Air Senegal has today been issued with its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) by the Senegalese civil aviation authority, clearing the final hurdle for the launch of commercial operations in mid-May.
Well-placed sources told me that the flag-carrier will gradually add routes from Dakar, Senegal’s capital, to one domestic point and four regional markets: Ziguinchor in Senegal; Banjul in Gambia; Bissau in Guinea Bissau; Praia in Cape Verde; and Nouakchott in Mauritania.
The routes will be served by a pair of owned ATR 72-600 turboprops, which were ordered at the 2017 Paris Air Show and are already stationed at Blaise Diagne International Airport, the capital’s new gateway.
